Job Description

OmniWarn seeks a dedicated Field Technician 3 responsible for installing and maintaining outdoor warning systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and OSHA guidelines. This role includes all functions of a Field Tech 2, with the added responsibility of safely operating and maintaining heavy equipment used in installation projects. The work is primarily conducted outdoors in diverse weather conditions and involves regular travel with overnight stays. Work is performed both independently and within a crew.

Responsibilities

  • Cabinet and Pole Work: Wire controllers and components in siren cabinets, set poles, and mount antennas and cabinets.
  • Power Systems: Install, wire, and connect battery banks, chargers, and solar panels.
  • Base Station & Technical Support: Install and configure radio base stations and communication equipment. Provide assistance with troubleshooting, service calls, inspections, and preventative maintenance.
  • Heavy Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain equipment such as bucket trucks and digger derricks to support installation projects, which includes driving and setting utility poles.
  • General Support: Provide general labor, driving, and material handling as needed.

Requirements

Experience & Education:

  • A minimum of two years of hands-on experience in electrical, mechanical, or telecommunications work.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.

Technical Knowledge & Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and installation instructions.
  • Strong knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems, solar power, battery banks, and radio equipment.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
  • Experience operating heavy machinery like bucket trucks, digger derricks, and trailers.
  • Ability to conduct pre-trip inspections and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently.

Certifications & Licenses:

  • A CDL is required or must be obtained within six months.
  • OSHA 10 certification is required.

Physical & Work Conditions:

  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work at heights. This includes regular lifting of materials up to 50 lbs., climbing poles, and working for extended periods standing or bending.Routine travel with frequent overnight stays is required.
  • The schedule may include evening, weekend, or on-call work.
  • Strict adherence to all safety protocols is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with outdoor warning systems or radio communications is preferred.
  • A background from a technical school, trade certifications, or military technical training is a plus.
  • OSHA 30 and certifications in rigging/crane safety are preferred.
